Coming to the 1997 movie Shapath(Oath), a gigantic disaster. From 1993 to 2000, he had more than 30 flops but the surprising thing was film makers were still signing him. I am a big fan of Mithun Chakraborthy but he was wasted badly starting from 1993 his movies in the early 90's were good though. So of course, I recommend this film to all Hindi Cinema Fans! Thumbs Up! I loved 'Shapath', I've seen this film many, many times. Kader Khan, Gulshan Grover & Salim Ghose are perfect in their parts. Ramya looked great then and her performance is up-to the mark. Shakti Kapoor is excellent, his comedy track is truly hilarious. Both of the Legendary actors are a treat to watch. Acting wise, as mentioned, Mithunda & Jackie are in terrific form.
Babbar's direction is superb, this is his best work. In fact, it became a rage across the nation. Remember my advice! Altaf Raja delivered a super-hit song in here, 'Ishq Aur Pyar Ka', which proved to be a smash hit. My advice to all who haven't seen this killer flick yet: Don't look for logic in 'Shapath', it's an out-and-out masala film, it's for those who enjoy Hindi Cinema for it's ever-lasting escapism. A highly-entertaining film with Mithunda & Jackie delivering terrific performances.
Rajiv Babbar's box-office super-duper-hit 'Shapath' is escapist cinema at it's best.
